Boys U12 (2013) Premier White - Temple Villa
A break in the woeful recent weather gave us lovely conditions in Athlone for our teams first venture into a National Competition. Naas started really slowly and were made to pay as a really slick Temple Villa team tore them open straight from the kick off. They added 3 more goals before the fifteen minute marker. Each one a really fine finish. Naas management rang the changes on 20 mins and the team settled down. Naas battled really well and were set the task to try and win the second half. No joy with that task conceding another in the second half on the break but can take heart from the last 40 mins of the game.
Huge learnings can be taken from our hosts. We were greeted on arrival and made to feel welcome as we were shown to our dressing room. After the game there were treats and cakes for the kids and teas and coffees for parents. We have already agreed a future friendly to return the welcome and give us an opportunity to measure ourselves against a really well oiled team that have been playing together as a unit for over 5 years.
Our day was not over then, the kids and coaches took advantage of the location and went on to Baysports in the Hodson Bay Hotel for some outdoor water sports. The match was quickly forgotten and smiles were allover the kids faces. Everyone had a ball and some great memories forged for the kids.
Back to the grind of training this week and hopefully a bounce back result next week in the KDUL for the lads.
