Apollo London FC - Soccer Stars Fennecs FC
A mature performance from the boys this afternoon led to the second in row victory at home against the Team B of Soccer Stars Fennecs FC.
In the first 15 mins of the game, both Teams were trying to find their pace in the pitch as they focused on winning first and second balls in the middle area.
Stagely, the boys started deploying higher pressure at the opposite defending line increasing the chances to steal balls close to the large box area and find the opportunity to score. This is what happened in our first goal at the 23rd minute when our left winger advantaged from the high pressure' stole the ball and calmly finished seeing the ball rested in the opponents' net. The period between 25th and 40th minute showed the boys' domination at the two-thirds of the pitch after constantly winning contentious balls and creating further chances to raise the score. Two sensational long-range strikes from our two midfielders at the 42nd and 43rd minute respectively made the game easier for the second half. Both goals have the possibility being grouped in the top 10 ones in the entire season.
The Apollonians started the second half with the same zeal and passion to push the score higher. Very quickly, after 3 mins game, another team-effort based passing outside the opponent's large box area resulted in a fourth goal. Mature and full of technique finish from our Brazilian midfielder brought more joy and cheering for a large score win to our players.
During the last 30 mins of the match, three subs were made by our Coaching Team aiming to allow extra time to players who hadn't been used in the basic formation during the pre-season friendly games. Another 3 good chances were missed in the last 20mins from the boys, all from sub players, proving their eagerness to help our squad whenever athey are asked to.
The visitors managed to achieve the honour goal at the very last minute of the extended time after winning the rebound from the ball which firstly shaked the post through a short-distance foul kick.
Today's confort win fosters our players' confidence in the light of the next Saturday's difficult game against FC Marylebone.
