Boys U15 (2010) Major - Clongorey fc

Tough opening game for our major lads ,with hard fought loss which felt like going the other way for much of the match. Really happy with the performance, as major had six debuts from lads stepping up from major 1 and many of the lads Just getting to play as together for the first time.

Clongorey just down from prem league and we expected it to be tough but Naas came out stronger to start ,taking the lead through Kuba zawierucha, running on to a brilliant ball by Alex Nelson who for me was fantastic in a more attacking role ,having played defense all last season. Clongorey soon after capitalised on some poor decisions in the defense and pulled one back, to go in at 1-1 half time . Naas again came out strong and Gavin Beirne reacted quickest to a rebound from a free ,scoring from the edge of the box on his debut. Then with 10 mins to go ref gave an awful pen decision , player got all ball and was doubtful if even in the box. Pen converted and through lack of focus and dwelling on something they couldn't change Naas lost their heads for a bit and allowed bad positioning and wayward passes catch them out for Clongoreys 3rd .

The lads pushed to pull back but the heat and tempo of the game took its toll on all involved, with maximum effort shown by all. Though Naas left the pitch deflated and angry that they let a well fought lead slip, if they play this way in the coming season, they will for sure pick up results. 

Debuts for Naas: conor mcnulty,Jan wojciechowski, Gavin Beirne,mateusz Nowocien, Morgan begley, Kyle byrne all putting in a great performance and will be great additions to Naas Major.
