Liphook & Ripsley - Clanfield Kites-Friendly (away)

Clanfield Kites had a very enjoyable trip on Sunday 26th May to the beautiful setting and warm hospitality of Liphook & Ripsley CC.  After a short downpour just before the match started, Liphook won the toss and decided to bat on a wet wicket.

Liphook kept things tight, losing only four wickets in total, for a challenging 295 runs.  Sonia Cartwright top scored for Liphook with an impressive 27 runs from her spell with Anna Quinn, which pushed the score from 262 to 295 in the final four overs.  Ray Rees had the strongest bowling figures for the Kites with three overs, 1 wicket for 9 runs.

Sue Andrews started Clanfield’s innings strongly, netting 22 runs in the first four over spell, and then Lily George and Chris Cox moved the score from 225 to 256 in the next four overs.  The remaining batters continued to push the score forward despite some strong bowling and fielding from Liphook & Ripsley, with the Kites finishing on 318 for six wickets. Kat Jarrat delivering three overs for one wicket and just nine runs.

Overall, a close match which was played in great spirit, with both teams demonstrating some great cricket in the sunshine.  A classic way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
