U13 Orange - Coventry Copeswood Eagles

Cov Copeswood 0 -1 U13 Orange. 

1st league game since 1st December and an important 6 pointer against a promotion contender.

We knew it would be a physical game, and that they like to play the long ball, so we used the same 4-5-1 formation that we 1st used in our cup game against U13 Black.

It worked a treat today, as it overloaded the middle of the pitch and allowed us to win and recycle a lot of their long punts. 

We pressed from the front so well, boxing them in and denying them space to play out.

When they did get through, our back 4 and 2 CDMs worked together so well to snuff out any danger, reducing them mainly to hopeful punts across our box, with the narrow pitch also helping to keep things compact. 

1st clean sheet of the season, which is fantastic. 

Definitely our best performance of the season, with everyone playing with the same high intensity levels as they showed in the 2nd half of the cup game.

MOTM performances all over the pitch today.

Charlie didn't have a lot to do, but when he did, he pulled off saves to his usual high standard.

Brilliant improvement in hos kicking off the floor today, with so many getting into the opposition half and setting attacks.

Solid performances from all the defenders today, especially Lennon in his 1v1s and carrying the ball out, and Luke reading danger and dealing with it so well.

Ezra, Aiden, Ruben and SamF defending well from the front with their high press on the opposition DF, and some lovely 1 and 2 touch passing to link up the play.

Az deservedly won it after a standout performance. 

Playing CAM, LW & RW, he played all 3 positions perfectly, resulting in a lovely assist for Ruben to score the winner. 

6 point gap between us and 3rd place at the halfway stage of the season, with plenty still to play for.
