Ladies Social Team - Harrogate Railway Ladies
A really competitive match which displayed how both teams have improved over the seasons. End to end play resulted in some good opportunities for both teams but again both defences and goalkeepers stepped up and a fair result in a 0-0 draw. Amy, as always, brave in coming out and saving a few at the strikers feet, Dix and Claire strong as full backs and on many occasions stopped the opposition wingers from progressing, Rachael the ever consistent centre of our defence was as usual a brick wall supported by KPL who sat just in front of the back three and consistently broke down play. Debs and Megan on the wings working hard tracking back to help the defence as well as supporting the attacking play. Steph and Sian working tirelessly up front to not only create chances themselves but get on the end of any crosses, through balls.
A couple of changes in the first half saw Kirsty debuting as a striker and made a nuisance of herself with the opponents defence and Jen replaced Debs on the wing looking to drive the attack. Half time saw a forced change with Rachel hurting her back so the ever versatile Megan stepped in as Centre Half and absolutely nailed it giving her a well deserved POM from her teammates. KPL slotted into left back whilst Claire had a rest and Kate Grime came onto the right wing with Debs on the left and Jen & Sian up front with Kirstie moving into CDM. Neither team were able to break down the defences despite some great work from Kate Grime on the wing. Final quarter so the last of the changes with Jen and dix resting, Steph back into attack and Claire slotting back into left wing and Kirsty moving into right back and KPL into CDM.
A hard fought draw and great to keep a clean sheet. Some fantastic phases of play and a real team effort and ready for the next challenge.
