U11 Comets - Sandhurst raptors

Scoop up the joy , it’s ice cream o’clock……….

For the fifth time this season we play a Sandhurst team, this time it’s the Raptors . 

Q1 .Early dominance from the Comets sees 

Fletcher and Zaeem working well along side Josh and Thomas to have a couple of early shots but the Sandhurst defenders and keeper put an end to our chances . 

Zaeem with a corner lands in the middle of the area but was kicked upfield by Sandhurst .

Zaeem again closes down their goal kick and crosses to Josh who’s shot just rolls wide of the post. 

With a Free kick for Josh to take , it lands at Fletchers feet - great accuracy from Josh - to strike it first time but it was blocked by the defence again .

With quick thinking this led to a Sandhurst attack where we were slow to get back to defend with their player managing to squeeze one past Dylan to make it 1-0 . 

2Q

Sandhurst are quick to want to grab another goal but Luca closing down their attacker puts a stop to another goal. 

Comets now in the run with the ball and Zaeem taps it past two players and takes a shot on goal with his attempt on goal going wide . 

Fizaan with a throw in , goes down the wing and then back to him in central mid where he was thinking of grabbing a goal but his shot again saved by the keeper who was playing his second game in goal this season and having a great game. 

Alex 1 on 1 with keeper but misses the ball as he went to tap it past the keeper. 

With Comets on another attack towards the Sandhurst goal we had Zaeem running down the wing and crosses it to Alex who puts it in the net 1-1 . Luca making sure anything that comes his way gets sent back up the other end of the field with good clearances. 

3Q Dylan comes out of goal and Thomas puts on his gloves to make his debut in goal . 

Comets started this quarter with better urgency to win the ball and grab the lead . Henry had a throw towards the corner flag to Dylan who taps it across the box to Fletcher who taps it between the keepers legs 2-1 . Shortly after the restart we won the ball back with Dylan taking the ball down the left wing and crosses to Zaeem but his shot goes wide of the goal. 

Pressing play from the team with great passing from the back all the way upfield ends up with Fletcher who crosses to Alex who slots it past the keeper 3-1 . 

Zaeem again shows us his attacking side and runs with the ball past a couple of players and shoots but the keeper gets his foot on the ball to stop another goal. 

4Q . Comets eager to keep the lead in the final quarter with Henry and Dylan stopping any chance on our goal. But those couple of shots that were on goal were grabbed hold of by Thomas in goal. 

Josh on a run down the left wing was taken and awarded a free kick. Free kick was taken and Luca was then taken down just outside the box resulting in another free kick . Luca takes it but skims the crossbar.

Josh had a couple of attempts at goal but unfortunately we couldn’t get it past the keeper. Fizaan also had some chances to grab his first goal but again we couldn’t get it past the keeper . 

Player of the match was awarded to Zaeem for his fearless runs down the wing with some good passing and not being afraid to take on the players .
