Girls U11's Wildcats - Kenilworth Kestrels
Our first 9-a-side match including the dreaded Offside rule today. The team adapted well to the bigger pitch and should look forward to the extra space this will give them to showcase their talent. Lots of positives to take from the game and lots of learnings.
This match proved the importance of goal kicks now that the retreat rule no longer applies - 3 of the goals in the game coming as a result of attackers pressuring the defenders and keepers.
Rosie scored our first goal counting towards next season’s totals, equalising midway through the first half. ⚽️
Scores level at halftime and an even battle but a couple of quick-fire goals from Kenilworth midway through the second half, the second one we were very unfortunate to concede, gave them the advantage.
Elsie made a number of good saves throughout the match and looks really confident in goal - one shot in particular which looped up in the air was really well watched and caught. 🧤
Kenilworth had a lot of corners throughout the match but we defended all of them well - shoutout to both Elsie and Hattie for spotting the unmarked Kenilworth players and organising their teammates 👏
