Goffs Oak U11T vs  Watford Ladies Harts

Today the U11 Turquoise hosted Watford Ladies Harts.
With an early KO the grass was still slick and the sun shining it made for perfect playing conditions.

Both teams started well playing some good football! With Watford trying to overload down their right side Jess and Mia had their work cut out early on. Being calm and composed they dealt with the pressure really well taking the pressure away from Bella and in turn kept the threat on our goal to a minimum.

It didn’t take us long to get into our rhythm and become a real attacking threat. Zuzanna receiving the ball just outside the area took a great strike at goal only to be denied by the crossbar. We continued all the way up until halftime with great pressing football but just couldn’t get that goal we deserved.

Half time Paris and I both spoke to the girls about taking their chances. Also making sure they’re an option in the box from crosses and not being behind the keeper or defenders

Straight from the whistle in the second half we began to press well and get numbers up the pitch. Eileen now playing in the centre mid showed great strength shielding the ball and picking out some great weighted passes.

Unfortunately from a small lapse in communication we didn’t deal with a loose ball and went a goal down. These moments happen in football and at this age we always have to look at the positive side of it and use it as a learning experience.

Luckily the girls used this to spur themselves on and within minutes got their opportunity. Chloe with a well taken shot from just inside the oppositions half bounced just in front of the keeper and went in through her legs. You could tell by the determined looks on their faces that they weren’t finished there.

Lola and Thea now as a defensive partnership pressed up towards the half way line and were playing excellent passes to the wide players.

Nylah playing the striker role to perfection was dropping that little bit deeper to get the ball and the team up the pitch. With great quick feet she managed to get a goal to give us our lead.

With the Watford goal under more pressure we were denied again by the post this time. With minutes remaining Lola Rose was running her heart out and winning all of her battles and making some superb crosses into the box.

On one of our final attacks Lola Rose made a more direct run central to the goal and finished the game off with a great strike.

Today was an excellent display of team work and never giving up. The girls played some great football and got the result they truly deserved.

Today’s POTM went to Lola Rose.🏆

Whether attacking or defending she always gives it 100% every time. I lost count of the amount of great crosses she played in from the right wing today. Then to get rewarded with the final goal of the day for her excellent effort. 💜
