U11 Purple 24/25 - Oaklands wolves
GOGS PURPLES u11 💜 welcomed Oakland wolves for their first league game of the 24/25 season. In a new look and with a full squad available we welcomed Ciera, Amelia, Jessica B and Francesca who all made their Goffs Oak debuts.
A strong start from Goffs with some nice work between the forwards created a 1/2 chance but it was Wolves that broke on the counter and a lovely cross from the right found the forward who slipped in front of our defence to slide the ball home 1-0. Goffs responded well with some neat work up top from Jessica, Elsie and Lois which brought a good save from the keeper but wolves were always a threat on the counter but Maisie Isabelle and Phoebe along with Jessica were superb in keeping the score 1-0. Some lovely passage of plays from both teams in the midfield but for all the possession from both teams the half time whistle blew and 1-0 wolves.
Second half got underway and started much the same as the first with Goffs on the attack but again it was wolves with some neat passing and a cross in which was deflected in pass Jessica for a own goal which we could do nothing about 2-0 wolves. Within 5 minutes gogs pulled one back some neat work from the frontline ended up with Jessica seeing her shot saved , from the resulting goal kick the keeper kicked it straight to Jessica who calmly slotted home for her first goal for gogs ⚽️, the game progressed with wolves looking the stronger team, some lovely passing and movement brought 2 quick goals and we went 4-1 down and that’s how the game ended thanks to Jessica who was immense in goal making save after save, on the day the best team won but gogs can hold their heads high. The girls have gone up a couple of divisions and you could tell by the quality of football and opponents today, That said the purples were excellent today and will only get better by playing in a higher division, well done to the debutants who all contributed to a excellent performance and worked their socks off along with everyone else today and they left it all out on the pitch, despite the result If the girls continue to work and fight like they did today they will have no problem finding their feet in this division.
