U11 Turquoise 24/25 - Garston
Today we made the away trip to play Garston.
We warmed up by doing some simple passing and crossing into the box to get us used to the surface.
As the game started we quickly saw the threat that Garson had with some very fast and skillful players. We were able to keep it even going into the second quarter until Garson got the first on a counter attack, we were not able to track back in time and left one of their players free which allowed them to get the ball and have a well taken first time finish.
Shortly after we were able to equalise with a really nice team goal which Harmoni was able to finish nicely.
Since that we were not able to put that ball in the back of the net, even after some really nice team play where we linked up from our half right into the opponents box, but not able to get that final touch. After conceding a very unfortunate goal the girls were still determined to go for the win and we saw even more link up play from our whole team today, sometimes even getting in one-on-one, but it just wasn't our day today.
Garston were able to score 2 more goals by the end of the game after a quarter of end-to-end football where we were making some strong tackles at the back, making the forward pass, into the opponents box and battling in there to try get the finish, but again not our day and couldn't quite find that finishing touch.
Ollie and I both agreed that one player stood out to us today, Mia our Potm, didn't stop once as she played 3 out of the 4 quarters making some tough challenges and then clearing it into a good area for her teammates to try and score. Showing great progress since she joined us this season.
Unfortunately, today wasn't the way we wanted to end the year but we will be back in the new year again. But for now we should all rest from football and I hope everyone has a good Winter break and a good Xmas 🎄😁
