Girls U12's Lionesses - Leafield

Friendly - 9 a-side game away at Leafield.

Was a hot morning for our first friendly 9 a side game heading towards wrapping up our season.

The pitch was quite long, dry and quite bobbly at times.

From the off we looked comfortable with the new game format , very organised with our new defensive back 3 of Captain Peyton , right back Erin and left back Lacey settling into the game nicely and keeping a good line in defence which was very pleasing to see.

Midfield was strong in the centre with Emma and Elysia driving us forward throughout the first half, along with great play on the wings by Mona & Mimi. 

Layla started the game as our striker playing upfront on her own, and did a great job showing some lovely touches and was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. 

Mona took centre stage midway through the game with two fantastic goals, to top off an outstanding individual performance. Mona was on top form today !!! 

Myanna and Amalia were solid in defence when we made changes, and were key players helping to keep a clean sheet today against decent opponents. 

We challenged a few players to be out of their comfort zone by playing different positions and we were pleased with everyone’s approach to this.

Erin played centre midfield and right back and did very well. 

Lacey played left back, right midfield and centre forward and also did very well. 

The opponents keeper made a number of good saves from Emma, Lacey, Mona, Elysia and Layla to stop us from adding to our score.  

Bella didn’t have many saves to make but kept her concentration well and worked hard to vary her distribution, well done Bella !!

Top work by all today and very proud coaches !!!

Parent player of match - Erin for adapting to new positions, being calm when receiving the ball and competitive in her tackles 👏 

Great work from the coaches and parents of Leafield as the pitch wasn’t marked out on arrival. Was so good to see the parents and coaches all pull together without any issues to mark out and get the game on as near to KO as possible. 👏
