MR U11 NL Gold 2024/2025 (Market Road League) - Bloomsbury u11 black
An excellent result with everyone putting in an effort they can be very proud of.
I would appreciate if parents could read the following pointer and pass it on to the boys.
Key area for improvement for now is organisation off the ball.
If you feel your boy has any more to give, and should be pushing to be a leader in the team, you should encourage them to communicate more as a first step. Regardless of their position, it is invaluable to have players that can see a third attacker running into space behind our two defenders, and calling for our winger or our midfielder to drop and help out.
For set pieces as well, too often we will have 5 players marking no one on the front post, whilst all the opponents are attacking the back post, and no one communicates that to their teammates.
It is such a simple and quick way for your boys to become better, and the first player to take the lead on it will immediately stand out in the group. Technique, strength and fitness all take consistent practice with slow results, but the willingness to spot danger and tell your closest teammate to cover it is a change that can happen overnight with huge rewards.
It's as simple as making sure we have at least one player goalside of each opponent player in our half of the pitch, when we don't have the ball.
We are lucky to have kept a clean sheet thanks to a stellar performance from Tom, but the amount of chances we conceded (solely from unmarked opponents that were left to run in behind our defense) would have been enough to cost us a win in any game, where we may not score 7 goals.
I will do my best to convey this information to the boys in training, but your help in encouraging the above would be much appreciated.
See you all at training, and well done to the boys for the effort and the result!
