Kites W10 Ladies Softball - Portsmouth
Clanfield Kites secured another solid Hampshire W10 league win on Sunday 9th June against a strong Portsmouth CC’s W10 team. Portsmouth won the toss, decided to bat first, and resisted Clanfield’s solid bowling performance, with Portsmouth losing just six wickets in their 20 over spell, ending on a total of 255. Highlights from the Kites in the field included Lydia Windebank’s 3 wickets for 4 runs in her four over spell, Emma Hart’s two catches, one of them taken over her shoulder running backwards, and all round very tight fielding exemplified by Kim Collins’ determination that nothing was going to get past her.
Each Kites batting pairs consistently pushed their score forward to achieve a winning total of 317. The Kites demonstrated some brisk running between the wickets and strong hitting, with 18 boundaries including an impressive 6 from Amanda Marks beating the boundary with a shot over the keeper’s head, and four 4s each from Emma Hart and Laura King.
Overall, both teams played with great spirit in what was a thoroughly enjoyable match and a great demonstration of the success of the W10 concept.
