Clanfield Kites-League - Locks Heath (home)

Clanfield Kites welcomed Locks Heath and the sunshine to South Lane Meadow for their opening Hampshire W10 softball cricket league match of the season.

The Kites were put into bat on a very warm afternoon, and delivered some very strong performances.  Sue Andrews and Amanda Marks top scored, moving the total forward by 60 runs in their four over spell.  Locks Heath bowled well, with Evalyn Lamb leading with two wickets for 24.  Some dynamic hitting came from Lily George, scoring her first outdoor six and three 4s, and solid contributions by the other Kites batters led to a very challenging total score of 334 after the twenty over innings.

Locks Heath replied with each batting pair pushing their score forward.  Marisa Lamb and Rachel Tarr made a strong contribution of 39 runs in their four over spell.  Clanfield Kites did well to contain the batting, with Ray Rees delivering two very strong overs capturing 2 wickets for 9 runs.  Some great energy and commitment in the field resulted in Locks Heath being held to 268 in their 20 overs.  A promising start to the season for Clanfield Kites, against strong opposition from the visiting Lock Heath side.
