Girls U12's Lionesses - Leamington Lions PR
After the emphatic win last Saturday the Lionesses found themselves up against much more evenly matched opponents this weekend in Leamington Lions.
The hosts started strongly, playing a physical and pressing game and took an early lead but Sophia got Stockton back in the game with a well-taken goal.
Bella was commanding in her area winning numerous 1 on 1s at the edge of her box. Peyton was Captain Fantastic at the back, winning balls and creating chances to break.
However, Leamington continued to pressure the Lionesses and soon found themselves back in front. 2-1 at halftime.
The Lionesses continued to dig deep and again came from behind with a classic Layla goal. Emma showed great strength and skill in midfield. Winning balls, making runs and finishing moves with shots on target or passes into goal-scoring opportunities. Leamington just couldn’t cope with this. Elysia scored her 12th of the season with a great finish which made the Lionesses take the lead for the first time in the match.
Mimi, Sophia and Emma dominated midfield with the latter adding a brace to put the game beyond Leamington and a very good/stubborn goalkeeper.
A great performance from everyone today and it was great to see so many parents cheering on form the sideline too!
