Girls U14's - Haunchwood U13’s
The U13 girls had their first match in 4 weeks, and any fears they may be rusty were soon brushed aside with a totally dominant display which contained some fantastic passing of the ball, bringing compliments from the ref and the opposition coach and parents.
We had already hit the crossbar before our first goal came from a typical fast run down the right wing from Bethan who played the ball across the box where Macy had the simple task of tapping it in. A second thoroughly deserved goal came before half time where again Bethan used her pace out wide before a shot was saved with Ila following up and placing the rebound into the net.
2-0 at half time and Freya only having had 2 touches all game.
Second half followed a similar pattern, although Haunchwood had a few more counter attacks they were dealt with fairly easily by the defence and Freya. The third goal came about from a lovely pass from Ila out to Bethan who confidently placed it beyond the goalkeeper first time. Plenty of other half chances came and went but 3-0 it remained.
This was a team who had only lost twice this season (one of these being the home match against us) and so was no easy task. Credit to every single one of the girls today, they should be rightly proud of themselves and it is great to see them being braver with the passing of the ball as we are trying to encourage and coach them on in training.
Definitely the best performance of the season and any of the girls could have been player of the match, Charlotte had a fantastic second half, Beth ran the wings as she often does, Xan as dominant as ever (even having a couple of runs and shots) and Poppy having a good 1st half in an unfamiliar striker position.
Ultimately girl of the game went to Ila who controlled and dominated the pitch centrally and parents player was Isabelle who was always looking to play the ball to feet whilst not letting anyone get past her.
