Girls U11's Wildcats - Wellesbourne Wanderers
Wildcats travelled to Wellesbourne today after a Friday scramble to get the game on! Not many teams have managed to play at all over the last 4 weeks. Thanks again to parents for travelling. It was worth the trip today to see a confident performance from the team and a win! 🙌
Lots of energy from everyone throughout on a fast pitch - particularly Naomi in her first match. Every outfield player for Stockton had a shot at goal during the game - hopefully we can continue that in our next match.
Tilly opened the scoring 4 minutes in and we had control of the game from then. ⚽️
The Wellesbourne no.14 looked a very good player - playing in goal in the first half she made a fantastic save to keep the score at 1-0 after we had first hit the post. 🧤
Emily doubled our lead just before half time with a good finish. ⚽️
Wellesbourne were on top at the start of the second half having swapped players into different positions. The no.14 was fouled on the edge of the box, and scored from the freekick to get them back into the game.
Wellesbourne grew into the game and did create a couple of good chances to score again - hitting the post and forcing a save from Lily in goal.
Emily was super alert though to steal the ball from the Wellesbourne keeper when the ball was placed on the floor to finish them off. ⚽️ That goal moves Emily to top goalscorer so far this season!
