U11 Comets - AFC Brooklands

Today we had a game away to AFC brooklands which could have easily been a different score line , ends scores do not matter it’s all about the flavour but this week we was going for magnum gold with our come back towards the end.  

We changed a couple of positions around as the players wanted to try different positions which we encourage and it’s good to see they are happy to try this . Whilst we tried to settle in our new positions we unfortunately conceded two goals in the first quarter.  We started the second half with a couple of chances at goal which led to corners but we still couldn’t hit the back of the net.  An attack from them led to a shot on target but was tipped over the bar by Will . We eventually conceded another goal just before the halfway mark. 

At the break the players discussed what they felt they could improve on in their game and tactics which the coaches felt we should roll with it and use the advice of the players . 

After the break we didn’t let the 3 goal deficit beat our spirit and we again like the previous games this season continued to defend and attack together.  We had some good breaks and had a couple of shots on target which was stoped by the keeper.  We got into the box and just couldn’t get the ball into the net . 

In the fourth quarter our starting keeper Will came out of goal and swapped with Fizaan who had shots and corners coming at him but he was able to keep the ball from crossing the goal line.  

We continued on and put up a fight to get a player on the score sheet. It wasn’t long before Alex took a shot from the edge of the box and hit the back of the net which gave our players a leg back in the game. Soon after Dylan stopped an attack and then ran with the ball which after a couple of tackles along the way ended up at Wills feet who then took a bet on it and chipped over the keeper for it to roll into the back of the net. 

Two minutes left of the game and we could level the score line but unfortunately time ran out and we didn’t grab an equaliser. 

Our player of the match goes to Dylan for his never give up and can do attitude.
