Holmes chapel hurricanes - Nantwich
Really good game overall girls, everyone put in a great shift and was tough in the temperature. Great to have Gemma play her first game. Thanks to keepers Ness, Courtney, Gemma and Amanda.
Positives - good coverage for players as we shifted out of position when in possession of the ball
- good communication on the counter and getting in good spaces to receive the ball
- good passing patterns and a few great, quick 1-2’s
- Really great coaching to each other - it’s really helpful for someone to help with decision making and to guide you in situations, especially when in an unfamiliar position and this was really apparent tonight - great team work
- Great physicality on the ball, we didn’t let them push us off it
- Good skills and weren’t afraid to use our heads and less dominant foot
Things to work on
- Make sure we’re not marking our players too closely, sometimes the bounce up and over was catching us out and boom they were gone
- try to create some more space to receive the ball from throws, sometimes stick to our defender
- carry the same strong communication we have on the counter to the back line and make sure we’re calling for the ball (the calls to get back are great, but then we need to decipher and quick, who’s going to the person with the ball and who’s blocking the crosses/marking who) - also need to make sure when we manage to get the ball off them right in front of our net, we make it clear which of us has it “RUUUUUTHS” and that it’s under control so we can scatter. Sometimes several of us panic around the ball and no one claims it, put your name on it and let’s go
- Emma to remember not playing 11s and stop deep corners 😉
Everything is coming together really well and it’s really enjoyable playing with you all. Keep up the communication, continue to put the effort in and continue to enjoy. The wins aren’t gonna stop anytime soon.
It was 2-0 and then 2-1 but report won’t allow me to reflect that. We did well to shift back and defend to ensure we didn’t concede again so all very positive.
As always, I’m proud of you all,
Captain x
