Girls U11's Wildcats - Arden Forest
Another close fought game today for the Wildcats against an Arden Forest team that really grew into the game having started slow.
Rosie and Tilly in particular put the pressure on the opposition throughout the first half, winning the ball back multiple times and creating lots of chances.
Tilly grabbed her first goal of the season midway through the first half with a low shot into the bottom corner, which the goalkeeper couldn’t reach. ⚽️
Arden equalised just before half time when they started to put some pressure on our midfield and defence, a powerful shot past an unfortunate Emilie-Rose in goal.
Arden had a penalty 1 minute after the restart, but Hollie produced a fantastic save to keep us level! 🧤Huge relief for the Wildcats!
Maisie nearly scored a very special goal from the halfway line shortly afterwards. The shot smashed against the crossbar. The goalkeeper may have got a hand to it. It would have been incredible! The Arden No.10 appreciated the effort - fist bumping Maisie which was great to see. 👏
The game was disrupted towards the end after a completely unnecessary reaction by opposition parents to an on-field challenge. No place in children’s football for that. This is not the World Cup!
A big credit to the players of both teams at the end of the game for shaking hands and saying good game after a game well played.
