U13 Orange - Whitley Colts

Whitley Colts 2 - 10 Leamington Brakes U13 Orange. 

Another good win for the boys to keep their good start to the season going👏

We spoke before the game about the need for intensity from the 1st minute to the last,  with the 1st half against Coundon at Campion the reference point for what can happen if we don't have the right attitude for the whole game. 

This team lost 9 nil to the Whitley team we beat 9-1 on the opening game of the season,  so we knew we should win if everyone was on top of their game.

The boys took it onboard and started so well, with 2 early goals from Ruben to set the tone.

2 team challenges before ko (which u might not thank me for).....

1. A clean sheet

2. Double figures in the goals column.

4-1 up at half-time,  but towards the end of the 1st half we started to lose the midfield battle,  with SamC left to do the work of 2 players for large spells, which against stronger opposition would have cost us.

Quick chat at half time about playing more as a team rather than individually and playing through the 3rds.

Putting Az into midfield with SamC paid immediately dividends. With Az winning the turnovers, it allowed SamC to start playing forward passes to set attacks.

2nd half we were in complete control.

Charlie didn't have much to do in goal, but pulled off 2 worldies aimed at top bins when called.upon.💪

Lennon has brought great composure and awareness to the DF, also carrying the ball out so well.

Lots of contenders for MOTM today, which I ended  up sharing between 3 players.

1. Ruben ...set the tone with 2 early goals,  then went on to get his hatrick and 3 assists 👏 

2. Ezra...definitely more suited to CF than MD, as he proved with 5 2nd half goals.👏

3. SamC...really set the tempo for the whole game,  spraying balls around from CM to get 3 assists.  Always plays with his head up and sees the game 2 passes ahead. Everything we did good today went through him.

3 more games before Xmas with the challenge of gaining maximum points.

Very proud of everyone today for a brilliant team performance 👏
